You will be picked up from your hotel in the morning and taken for a half-day tour of the city accompanied by your guide for the day.
With a population of over 20 million, Mumbai has the distinction of being not only the most populous but also the wealthiest city in India.
Drive to the city’s busy railway station, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (previously known as Victoria Terminus). A UNESCO World Heritage site, it is a blend of Gothic and Indian architectural styles. The central dome and the numerous pointed arches and turrets make it a well known facade of Mumbai. Next drive to the Gateway of India, the unofficial icon of the city on the shores of the Arabian Sea. The majestic, arched structure made of basalt was built to commemorate the visit of King George V in 1911. It later became the symbolic entrance to India for British Viceroys and Governor-Generals. The beautiful facade of the Taj Mahal hotel can be seen in the backdrop. Enjoy Marine Drive, the picturesque coastline of Mumbai that is also referred to as the Queen’s Necklace due to the beautiful sight it offers in the evening when the lights are lit.
Stop at the 200 year old Babulnath Temple dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. Continue your drive to Haji Ali mosque, another famous landmark of Mumbai. The mosque is located on a small islet off the southern shore of Mumbai. People of all religions flock to this mosque daily. Next, drive to the biggest open-air laundry on the planet and watch the washer-men and women at work on the slabs of graying stone.
At the end of the tour, enjoy lunch (beverage excluded) at a local restaurant. After lunch, you will be driven back to your hotel.
