You will be picked- up from your city hotel and drive for your day excursion tour to Mysore, an approximately three hour drive. You will begin the tour with the opulent Mysore Palace. The Palace was the seat of the Wodeyar maharajas who ruled the kingdom from 1399 to 1950. The palace you see today was built in 1912 after a fire destroyed the first palace.
Your guided tour through the palace will show you the extravagant opulence and fine details of the interior. Admire the fine paintings, elaborate architecture, fine wood carved doors, mosaic floors and stained glassed windows.
Your tour will continue to Srirangapatna, a rocky island formed by the Cauvery River, which made it a militarily and religiously significant town. Srirangapatna came into prominence during the rise of Hyder Ali and his famed son Tipu Sultan, who converted Srirangapatna into a fortified city. It was the power centre of South India for a long time, before Tipu Sultan lost the last of the four battles against the British East India Company. Your tour will show you the numerous historic and religious monuments.
After your city visit, you move on to visit Brindavan Gardens. Famous for its symmetric design and illuminated terrace gardens, it was created by Sir Mirza Ismail, the then Diwan (chief treasury official) of Mysore state. He was the brain behind its modeling and conceptualization. Spread across an area of more than 60 acres, the gardens are laid out in three terraces, and ends in a horseshoe shape. The gardens radiate grandeur and beauty and contain a wide array of fountains, terraces, water channels, lawns and flowerbeds.
Later you will be transported back to your city hotel.
