Niger Gerewol Festival 9 Days 8Nights (comfort)

In every September nomadic clans from the Niger region come together in the middle of the country for massive celebrations comprising of feasts, camel races, markets, and Male Beauty contests.  The celebrations are termed as Gerewol festival, and is the largest in the region.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Niamey

Pass By: Diori Hamani International Airport, Niamey, Niger
Arrival in Niamey, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel; Soluxe Hotel.

Day 2: Niamey – Konni

Stop At: UNIVERSITE DE TAHOUA, Tahoua, Niger
After breakfast at the hotel, drive to Birmin Konni and Tahoua. On your visit, you will have several stops for a spectacular photo opportunity

Day 3: Tahoua – Konni – Abalak (Gerewol Site)

Stop At: UNIVERSITE DE TAHOUA, Tahoua, Niger
Drive to Abalak for a Gerewol festival. It is an annual courtship ritual competition among the Wodaabe Fula people. Young men make up in traditional painting and ornamentation. They gather in formations to dance and sing vying for the attention of marriageable young women

Day 4: Gerewol Festival

Today, we travel from Abalak to Agadez. We arrive in the late afternoon

Day 7: Agadez

Stop At: The Old Quarter, Agadez Niger
Visit the ancient city of Agadez including the Camel market, handy craft, sultan’s palace, and the famous mosque of Agadez

Day 8: Agadez – Konni

Stop At: The Old Quarter, Agadez Niger
After breakfast, visit the historic Centre- Konni, which was small pre-colonial Hausa state. Visit the big market.
