Between what to do in Syracuse you cannot miss this Walking Tour to discover a combination of medieval, fifteenth-century, baroque, liberty and rococo architecture, as well as the history and art that distinguish this wonderful place.
We will begin the Walking Tour of Ortigia from the Temple of Apollo, the oldest Greek temple in all of Sicily (built in the 6th century BC), passing through Piazza Archimede with its Diana Fountain, to the Church of San Filippo Apostolo alla Giudecca. Here, in the depths, a secret Ortigia is hidden: you will visit the crypt, an anti-aircraft shelter used in the Second World War and the mikvè, a "purification bath" existing on the island as belonging to the Synagogue. We will then move on from the majestic Cathedral that characterizes one of the most beautiful squares in Italy, to the enchanting Fonte Aretusa which, built in the early 1900s, gives shape to the ancient legend of Aretusa and Alfeo.
