Cooking Class at the Andes & Roses: PRIVATE Day trip from Quito

This is a unique local experience with an opportunity to share and interact with a local family based at the highland, almost an hour from Quito where you will learn how to prepare one of the most common soups in the highlands "Locro de papa" accompanied by little empanadas and a main course using local foods and delicious dessert accompanied by a traditional drink called Canelazo, a hot spiced cinnamon rum drink, a perfect cocktail perfect for a winter warm up.

Departure from Quito to Pifo area which is located a few minutes outside of Quito and lays an incredible hidden treasure: a local rose farm based at the highlands that offer much to learn about growing Ecuadorian roses that with combination of high altitude; twelve hours of sunshine; cold nights; and using organic soils and compost helps to harvest strong and tall flowers all year.
Later on, continue to a local house called Colibri Garden own by a local family who will be awaiting your arrival for a demonstration of preparing traditional foods. This delicious meal is then served to your table with a selection of fresh spices and a glass of wine.

At Colibrí Garden some hummingbirds can be appreciated such as; Sparkling Violetear, Black-Tailed Trainbearer, Tyrian Metal tail, Sapphire-Vented Puffleg, Sword-Billed and other small tiny birds such as Black Flowerpiercer, Rufus Collared Sparrow and Golden Grosbeak.
