Periyar from Cochin - a Two Day Tour

Periyar National Park and Tiger Reserve is located in the South Indian state of Kerala. Spread around an artificial lake, this wildlife sanctuary is home to elephants, bisons, wild boars, Sambar deer and a host of other animals including tigers. There are over 265 bird species that can be spotted in the area. Enjoy a night trek in the wilderness and an early morning boat ride on Lake Periyar.

Day 1: Cochin / Periyar

You will be picked up from your hotel in Cochin at 8:00 a.m. and driven to Periyar, which is 35 miles away. In Periyar, spend the day exploring the flora and fauna of the park. The flora in Periyar National Park primarily consists of Tropical Evergreen forests (30,500ha) and Semi-evergreen forests (27,500ha) around the tank. In the central part of the park, Moist-deciduous forests and Woody grasslands abound. Visit a spice plantation and enjoy the lingering aroma of spices like cardamom, nutmeg, pepper and cinnamon. Overnight stay at ABAD Green Forest resort.

Day 2: Periyar / Cochin

Go for an early morning boat ride on Lake Periyar. Next enjoy a leisurely breakfast after which you will be driven back to Cochin and dropped-off at your hotel.
