Kuqa is a renown town on the ancient Silk Road with its old name Qiuci. There are lots of grottoes, temples and ruins in Kuqa, which are very interesting to explore. This 2-day private tour will let you start from Urumqi to Kuqa by round-way flight to visit Kizil Grottoes, Tianshan Grand Canyon, Subash Temple Ruin, Kuqa Mosque, Kuqa Old Town, Kuqa Bazaar, and Kuqa King Palace etc. Because Kuqa is a small city with few people speaking English, we will do our best arrange an English-speaking guide for the tour. If no English-speaking guide for your booking, we will arrange Chinese-speaking guide for you, and translate via cell phone from our office staff.

Itinerary

Day 1: Urumqi to Kuqa by air

Stop At: Kizil Thousand Buddha Caves (Kezi'er Qian Fo Dong), Kizil Town, Baicheng County 842300 China
Today you will be picked up from your centrally located Urumqi hotel, and transferred to Urumqi airport to take one-hour flight to Kuqa. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to Kizil Caves, which is one of the most important grottoes on the ancient Silk Road. In the history, the Kizil Grottoes were for Kuqa people to depict the Buddha stories. You will visit the colorful caves opened for tourists.
Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Tianshan Mysterious Grand Canyon, Near of 217 National Rd North, Kuqa County China
Afterwards you will head to Tianshan Grand Canyon which is a 5-km long natural valley with red rock, and it is impressive to view the canyon.
Later, you will be transferred to Kuqa hotel for overnight.

Day 2: Kuqa to Urumqi by air

Stop At: Subashi Gucheng Temple, Beishan Mountain, Suburbs, Kuqa County 842000 China
Today you will visit the temple ruin of Subash, which was a well-know temple in Tang Dynasty 1400 years ago. There are still the pagoda, the temple wall, the big hall that show the splendid history of Kuqa.

Stop At: Kezi'er Ga Ha Beacon, Yanshuigou Mizoguchi, Northwest of County, Kuqa County 842000 China
This is one of the oldest beacon towers in Xinjiang, built in Han Dynasty 2000 years ago.
Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Kuche Temple, The highest point of the Black Pier Bazaar Paha Tabaza Road, Kuqa County 842000 China
The old Kuqa Mosque is situated in the old town of Kuqa, you will visit the mosque to learn the history and view the old woonden construction.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Kuqa Grand Bazar, Tuanjie New Bridge, Kuqa County 842000 China
Then you will visit Kuqa King Palace that was rebuilt recent years, but still worth visiting it because there are relics displaying in the museum of the palace.
Afterwards you will wander around Kuqa Bazaar where there are fruites, dried fruites, kebab, etc.
Later you will be transferred to Kuqa Airport to catch flight back to Uruqmi. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your Urumqi hotel where the wonderful tour concludes.
