Private Glacier Hike on Sólheimajökull

Sólheimajökull is a raw and rugged outlet glacier in an ever changing environment.

Surrounded by beautiful mountain range it slowly but steadily crawls forward, giving our experienced glacier guide a new challenge every day! His aim is to get us away from the crowd, finding nooks and corners to explore on our own; walking between deep crevasses, amazing ice formations, jagged ridges and spine-tingling sinkholes!

We start our trip with a nice short walk up to Sólheimajökull. It's a magnificent feeling viewing the glacier from a far and imagining your selves being up there in just a short while!

The guide then gives a short but very important demonstration on how to properly use the glacier equipment. When we're ready we head up the icy but easily accessible slopes on to our adventure, taking in the amazing surroundings on our way.

What to bring:

As we will be spending time in the unpredictable Icelandic weather, it is important to be prepared. We recommend warm outdoor clothing including:
• Waterproof jacket and trousers
• Warm head wear, for example, woolen hat/balaclava
• Gloves
• Appropriate hiking boots/shoes are requires
• Minimum shoe size 36EU or 5,5USOur guides are locals with years of experience and a passion for the Icelandic nature. Your guide will tell you interesting facts about Katla and it's surrounding as well as provide you with enlightening entertainment along the way.
