You will be picked up from your hotel and driven to Fatehpur Sikri. Located at a distance of 25 miles from Agra, the drive to Fatehpur Sikri takes about an hour.
This fortified city is a perfect synthesis of Indo-Islamic architecture. However, it was built in an area that suffered from water shortage and hence was abandoned after the death of the Mughal Emperor Akbar. Most of the city is made from red sandstone and the many halls and palaces are in a well preserved state.
Also visit the tomb of the Muslim Saint Salim Chishti. Legend has it that Akbar consulted the Saint, who predicted the birth of an heir to the throne. When the prophecy came true, Akbar built his new capital here.
The 180 feet high gateway,
Buland Darwaza, is an architectural marvel.
At the end of the tour you will be driven back to Agra and dropped off at your hotel.
