After a short but very important demonstration on how to properly use the glacier equipment we head up the riddled outlet glacier; walking between deep crevasses, amazing ice formations, jagged ridges and spine-tingling sinkholes.

And let's not forget the amazing scenery surrounding you the entire time. This gives you the perfect opportunity to get that one 'me climbing a glacier' photo you've always wanted!

**We always try to fit our trips to our guests needs and wishes**

We start the day with a lovely walk up towards Sólheimajökull glacier. The outlet glacier is a rugged, raw and an ever changing environment of ancient frozen water.

Up there each day is different and the ever changing environment gives our experienced glacier guide a challenge! He'll carefully evaluate the conditions and pick the best places for you to climb.

We then spend a good amount of time trying out various ways of ice climbing in a fun and educating way!

What to bring:

As we will be spending time in the unpredictable Icelandic weather, it is important to be prepared. We recommend warm outdoor clothing including:
• Waterproof jacket and trousers
• Warm head wear, for example, woolen hat/balaclava
• Gloves
• Appropriate hiking boots/shoes are requires
• Minimum shoe size 36EU or 5,5US

Our guides are locals with years of experience and a passion for the Icelandic nature. Your guide will tell you interesting facts about Katla and it's surrounding as well as provide you with enlightening entertainment along the way.
