Itinerary
Day 1: Janjangbureh, Wassu & RGNP
Stop At: Stone Circles of Senegambia, Wassu Gambia
Wassu Stone Circles, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The area (Wassu Stone Circles) is believed to be an ancient ceremonial (burial) mound of Kings and chiefs in ancient times over 1,200 years old and has been dated to be between 750-1000 AD. There are few circles across the Senegambia region. They are similar to and share some aspect of history with other stone circles across Europe and guests will explore the heritage site to learn the theory behind it
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: River Gambia National Park, Banjul Gambia
We board our local river craft to explore the River Gambia, a 2-3hrs relaxing cruise past lush forest islands. Be on the lookout for Hippos, Crocodiles, Baboons, Monkeys, colourful birds and Chimpanzees.
We will be cruising around River Gambia National Park (RGNP) a worthwhile exploration you should not miss while in the Gambia. You will be guided through the park in search of the rare Chimpanzees, we will receive an insight of the park and how it is managed before returning back to Kuntaur for our evening drive to Janjangbureh. (Please note; Chimpanzees are kept on islands and visitors are only allowed to sail around the islands)

Accommodation included: Baobolong Annex Camp with en suite facilities. It has A/C & Fans in the rooms from 7pm to 1am from the main supply
Day 2: Janjangbureh City Tour & Village Visit
Stop At: Janjanbureh, Janjanbureh, Central River Division
After breakfast we will be exploring the island on foot, visiting some historical colonial remains of Janjangbureh town such as the daily market, old colonial structures & warehouses, free tree, governor's office and the Kankurang Centre
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Stop At: Soma, Soma, Lower River Division
On the return journey, if it falls on a market day we would stop to visit a ‘Lumo’ (our weekly African open flea market) an opportunity to witness traditional bartering in this unique setting. Here you will find everything from livestock, local produce, food stuffs, clothes and colourful display of products. Proceed to visit one of the local family compounds to learn about the traditional way of life in the Senegambia region. We continue westwards passing various local villages before arriving at our hotel.
