It is one of the most evocative places in Sicily, also one of the most impressive of all Greek sites.

According to the traditional legend, SEGESTA had a Trojan origin. The well preserved temple was built in the late 5th century BC. The high-stepped, semi-circular theatre opens onto a breathtaking panorama over the surrounding countryside with the sea in the distance. It is located on the isolated hill called Barbaro, which offers a great panorama, and washed by the river Crimiso, nearby Calatafimi.
