Your guide will be happy to take you on an unforgettable journey through the largest and least-altered historic centre of South America and show you why Quito was named the first world heritage site of UNESCO. In the old town you will find a great mixture of Spanish and Indigenous culture, which is showcased at its best in the many historic buildings and churches. On this private tour you will be taken to the most important sights such as the Basilica Church, the Independance Square, La Compañia Church, the San Francisco Square and the Panecillo hill with the statue of the Virgen of Quito.

Your guide will be happy to meet you at 9 AM at your hotel and take you on this exciting excursion to Quito’s Historic Center. You will travel by private transportation as we are heading towards our first stop; the Basilica Church, better known as one of the largest Neo-Gothic churches of the Americas. Climbing one of the towers will reward you with an amazing view of the surrounding mountains and city.

Next our private transportation will take you to the hart of the old town where we will park the car and continue on foot towards the Independance Square. The guide will happily share his knowledge about this important place and surrounding buildings, such as the Presidential Palace.

Only one block away you will visit Quito’s most embellished church; La Compañia Church. With many beautiful wood carvings, gilded plaster and gold leaf decorations it is no wonder why this church is better known as one of the most significant works of Spanish Baroque in South America.

We continue on foot to the San Francisco Square where we can visit the San Francisco Church, home to over 3.500 pieces of colonial art and most notable, the city’s beloved 18th century sculpture of the Virgen of Quito.

This private tour definitely ends on a high as for our last stop we will visit El Panecillo hill, which offers you a great view of the 45-meter high statue of the Virgen of Quito against the backdrop of all the amazing historic buildings you just visited.

As the tour has come to an end the guide will be happy to give you some great lunch suggestions in the area or take you back to your hotel.
