It was formed 14.000 years ago, leaving an astonishing turquoise volcano crater lagoon. Explore the Saquisili (Thursday) or Pujili (Sunday) towns and visit a native family. Hike down to the lagoon shores. Have a traditional highlands dish for lunch and visit the Tigua community on your way back to Quito

Stop At: Laguna Quilotoa, Laguna de Quilotoa, 070701 Ecuador

This one-day cultural tour will take you to one of the most beautiful lagoons in Ecuador and South America, the amazing Laguna Quilotoa. The first stop on this tour is at the breathtaking Cañón del Río Toachi. This is a very photogenic canyon, on your route to Quilotoa. On day trips that we operate on Thursdays, you will start your day with a visit to the famous local market of Saquisilí. On Sundays you will visit a local market in Pujili and on other days the guide will try to find other spots with locals. Continuing your trip, you will pass through the indigenous villages of the area. When you arrive at the Laguna Quilotoa, you will hike down to the Laguna and back up again, in a stunning two-hour hike tour. It is possible to hire mules for part of the trek.
