Ride Through The Imperial Heart Of New Delhi

Get on a bicycle and go for an early morning biking tour of Delhi. Ride past some of the famous sites of Delhi, stopping for an occasional picture or two. The biking expedition starts at 06:00 a.m., giving access to streets free from vehicular traffic. Go past landmarks of Lutyens’ Delhi, stopping for breakfast before the end of the tour.

Stop At: Ajmeri Gate, Near Desh Bandhu Gutpta Road just north of the New Delhi Train Station, New Delhi 110002 India

Delite cinema (5 minutes)

You will be picked up from your hotel early in the morning and driven to Delite cinema from where the biking expedition will start.

Ajmeri Gate (15 minutes)

This is a majestic gateway built in 1644, that leads you from Old Delhi to New Delhi. It was the site of India’s First War of Independence in 1857.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Paharganj, New Delhi India

Paharganj (15 minutes)

As you drive past New Delhi Railway station, you will approach the commercial site of Paharganj, a backpacker’s paradise. Several budget hotels and roadside shops selling inexpensive clothes and designer jewellery dot the area.

Stop At: Connaught Place, G-22 Marina Arcade, New Delhi 110001 India

Connaught Place (20 minutes)

This horse-shoe shaped market with its colonnaded corridors and white exteriors was built by the British and was home to some of the most select stores of Delhi. Connaught Place remains closed on Sundays.

Stop At: Parliament House, Sansad Marg, New Delhi 110002 India

Parliament House (15 minutes)

The circular building of the Parliament House was built on the Imperial style and has an open verandah with 144 columns.

Stop At: India Gate, Rajpath Near Connaught Place New Delhi, New Delhi 110001 India

Presidential Palace (30 minutes)

This 340 room mansion is the largest residence of any Head of State in the world. Situated amongst sprawling landscaped gardens, it is a fine example of Edwardian Baroque style of architecture.

India Gate (20 minutes)

This is an Arc-de-Triomphe like 140 feet high gateway that was constructed as a War Memorial in memory of the 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian army who lost their lives during the First World War. An eternal flame burns night and day at the Gate to commemorate the brave soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the India-Pakistan War of 1971.

Stop At: Agrasen Ki Baoli - Leamigo, Hailey Road, K.G. Marg Block G,22 Connaught Place, New Delhi, Delhi 110001, New Delhi 110001 India

Agrasen ki Baoli (15 minutes)

This is a 14th century stepwell situated right in the heart of New Delhi. The well is built on three levels and has 108 steps leading down to the base of the well.

Dhobi Ghat (15 minutes)

Located in the commercial hub of New Delhi, Dhobi Ghat is home to a community of washermen who have been engaged in this trade for the last several decades. Take a look at the ways of this group of washermen in a day and age of washing machines. From here ride back to Delite cinema, for the end of the biking expedition.
