Cachiccata (“hillside of salt” in Quechua) is a natural viewpoint of the Apu or snowy of Wakey Willka. Here we will observe the most famous quarries of the Inca era that become one of the best attractions. Also from this point you can see the Paqaritampu pyramid, the imposing snow-capped mountains and the Apu de la Verónica mountain or Wakey Willka (“sacred mountain that cries”).
In times of winter solstice in June, from the quarries it is possible to see the position and sunrise with spectacular shadow projections towards the pyramid.

Itinerary

Stop At: cachiccata, PPX3+9MW, Cachiqata 08675, Peru

We will start the tour at 9:00 am we pick you up from your hotel in Cusco.
Then we go to the Machuqolqa viewpoint where we will make a short stop to appreciate a wonderful panoramic view of the Sacred Valley of the Incas in the middle of mountains. Following the tour we reach the city of Ollantaytambo where we will begin our walk, during the walk we can observe the enigmatic Cachiccata quarries that were used for the construction of the majestic Ollantaytambo you can see that also on the roads some of the stones and the many blocks are They were left unfinished.
We will also be able to observe the "Chullpas" or constructions of small tombs that were built with the purpose of housing mummies, considered guardian spirits of the people who live and work in the area.
During our tour we will observe the so-called “Tired Stones” that remained during the trip to Ollantaytambo and in some parts of the town. In this way we will arrive at the Paqariqtampu pyramid that during the month of June when the “Andean New Year” begins with the winter solstice a ray of light illuminates the “door or window” of the pyramid, where you can enjoy a delicious lunch also observing also the snowy mountain or Apu de La Verónica or Wakey Willka (“sacred mountain that cries”) which is presumed that during the Inca Empire it had great ceremonial importance since it was part of the Apus (Andean gods) and was considered a protector of agriculture.
Finally we will return to the Cusco city . At approximately 15:00 p.m.
