The Palace was wanted by the King of Naples Carlo di Borbone, who, taken from a competition with the French royals and eager to donate structures to Naples that could play a role of capital city of European level.

Built by the architect Vanvitelli in 1752 at the request of the Bourbons to compete with the palace of Versailles (Paris). UNESCO heritage. A professional private guide is highly recommended. The guide is on request and is not included in the tour price.
