Bateshwar (2 hours) -

The village of Bateshwar is situated at a distance of 60 miles from Agra. The drive to Bateshwar takes around an hour and a half. Bateshwar is known for its 101 temples dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. Upon arrival in Bateshwar take a tour of the pearly white temples lined along the ghats (riverside steps) of the River Yamuna. A multitude of architectural styles, time periods and historical events are reflected in these simple shrines. Enjoy a boat ride along the temple ghats, and visit the terrace of The Kunj at Bateshwar overlooking the ghats and temples.

Holipura (2 hours) -

The neighbouring village of Holipura is home to the Chaturvedi clan. Many of the clan rose to positions of great prominence and built havelis (grand mansions) to announce their arrival. Built over a period of time, with influences ranging from Mughal to Colonial and adapted to a rural scenario, the havelis have a unique architectural blend and are a beautiful synthesis of a myriad of traditions. Several are inhabited by the descendants of the original owners, retaining a certain character and charm. The village is a microcosm of rural Indian life with the symbiotic relationships of the inhabitants reflected in its layout.
