San Agustín 3-Day Trip

San Agustín is Colombia's most recognized archaeologic destination. The mysterious indigenous group that built hundreds of gigantic stone sculptures in this area disappeared years before the arrival of Spanish Conquistadores, leaving many questions open for contemporary archaeology. Moreover, San Agustín is located in the Macizo Colombiano Area, known for its impressive hydric richness, and stunning mountainous landscapes. Itinerary

Day 1: Bogotá - San Agustín

Stop At: Parque Arqueológico De San Agustin, Cra. 11 #307, San Agustín, Huila, Colombia
You will be picked up at your hotel in Bogotá at 8:00 PM to take you to Saltire's Bus Terminal to continue in a comfortable bus to San Agustín in a 10 - 12-hour overnight ride to the south of the country arriving early on next day's morning.

Day 1

When you arrive, a local guide will take you to the hotel for you to settle, take breakfast, and rest during the rest of the morning from the long journey. You will be picked up at 1:00 pm to take you to San Agustín's main archeological park where you will visit Luis Duque Gómez Museum, Fuente del Lavapatas, and Alto del Lavapatas. Here you will be amazed by enigmatic stone sculptures and learn in detail about their possible meaning thanks to an expert guide. When the tour is over, you will be taken back to your hotel or to any other place of your choice in San Agustín.

Day 2: Archeological places - San Agustín

Stop At: Archaeological Park Alto Idols, San José de Isnos, Huila, Colombia
You will be picked up after breakfast at 8:00 AM to tour through San Agustín's Touristic Peripheral Zone, where you will not only be amazed by archeological wonders, but with impressive waterfalls, mountains, and other natural richnesses. You will go to Alto de Los Idolos Park, known for having the largest monolith in San Agustín. Also, you will visit Alto de las Piedras Park, Obando Museum, Bordones Waterfall, Estrecho del Magdalena, and Mortiño Waterfall. When the day is over, you can choose if you want to stay in town for dinner or if you want us to take you straight to the hotel.

Day 3: San agustín Bogotá

Stop At: La Chaquira, Parque Arqueológico Alto de los Ídolos y Alto de las Piedras, San Agustin Colombia
After breakfast, you will be picked up at 8:00 am to have a nice horseback ride through 4 important archeological places; El tablón, La Chaquira, Purutal, and La Pelota. For this day we suggest adventuring into the horseback ride as there is no need for any previous horseriding experience. However, we offer a jeep ride instead. The tour ends at approximately 1:00 PM, you can have your lunch at the town, and have the rest of the afternoon for yourself before departing to Bogotá at 6:00 PM. You will be arriving in Bogotá at 6:00 AM on the next day, and you will be taken to your hotel or any other place of your choice within Bogotá.

Stop At: El Tablon, Parque Arqueológico de San Agustín, San Agustin Colombia
After breakfast, you will be picked up at 8:00 am to have a nice horseback ride through 4 important archeological places; El tablón, La Chaquira, Purutal, and La Pelota.
