Hiking to Salto do Prego in Faial da Terra - full day

This is really a walk in which you can “smell” all the green around you! Upon reaching Salto do Prego’s waterfall, we have the opportunity for a dip before our picnic lunch. On the way back we follow a different trail but with the same characteristics.

Itinerary

This hike is one of the most beautiful around São Miguel Island. If you had to choose one hiking tour in the Azores, this would be the one. Indeed, during this activity, you will see incredible natural sights like the amazing waterfall where you can take a dip if you don’t mind the cold. Many locals love this hike and do it often. You will surely understand why when you will discover its wild beauty! This trip will lead you to a hidden gem which is the waterfall known as Salto do Prego. From Ponta Delgada, we will pick you up and take you to the Eastern end of the island to go on this amazing adventure! Our walk starts on a steep narrow road that leads us to Sanguinho – a village that has been abandoned since the early 70’s and is now being restored. The rest of the trail is in the woods, with a lot of short up and downhill stretches between very dense and beautiful vegetation. Upon reaching the waterfall, we will have the time to enjoy our picnic lunch. On our way back, we will follow a different trail but with the same characteristics. When we finish the trail, we will have time for a snack in town and to mingle with local people before heading back to Ponta Delgada.
