Stop At: Cultural Hall of Kaisone Phomvihan, HQC8+G59, Savannakhet, Laos

Kaisone Phomvihan, the first President of the Lao PDR, was born in Savannakhet. This statue, in the middle of a cultivated city park, honors his life and legacy.

Stop At: Bungva lake, Savannakhet Laos

Take a rest at the lovely Bungva Lake. This manmade lake is set in the middle of rice fields and gives beautiful views all year round. A lunch of fresh local dishes made to order is included here.

Stop At: That Ing Hang, Savannakhet Laos

Visit That Ing Hung to see the sacred stupa where one of Buddha's bones is housed. You'll learn about Buddhist traditions and see them firsthand as people come to offer alms and worship. You'll also walk around the village and get a sense of rural life.

Stop At: Dong Natad National Protected Forest, JRCV+MJW, Ban That, Laos

Venture deep into this protected forest outside Savannakhet city until you reach the lake in the center of the forest, where you'll stop and take a rest before continuing onward.
