Short Manaslu Trek in Nepal

Short Manaslu Trek is one of the best treks in Nepal. This trek brings you high close up within three and half days to world’s eight highest mount Manaslu (8163m). It is an epic trekking trail as well as wilderness trek. You can see and experience the rural life and cultural activities. There is a day hiking to Ponkar Lake and glacier which offers spectacular massif mountain views surrounding you. The lake is situated about 4100m plus.

Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu, Nepal Arrival

Pass By: Thamel, Kathmandu 44600 Nepal
Pick you up from airport and transfer to Hotel.

Day 2: Kathmandu to Dharapani (1960m) drive 7/8 hrs, overnight at lodge

Pass By: Besisahar, Lamjung, Besisahar 33600, Nepal
After breakfast, around 7 am, start to drive to Dharapani via Beshishahar. It takes the first 5 hours to Beshishahar and changes next Jeep drive 3 hours to Dharapani. The day is very scenic along Trishuli and Marsyangdi river, both rivers are popular for rafting in Nepal.

You will be driving along the Prithivi highway beside the Trishuli River and chances to see some rafting groups.

Day 3: Trek to Gowa (2500m) 4 hrs, overnight at lodge

Pass By: Besisahar, Lamjung, Besisahar 33600, Nepal
It is the first-day trek. After breakfast, start your trek along a river in a pleasant environment. You will pass a nice village, called Tilche. You can reach to the camp place direct for lunch.

Tilche is one of the villages of the trek which passes through. It is a local inhabited for a long time. The village is situated beside a river and a beautiful valley as well as Gowa where you stop for a night.

Day 4: Trek to Chauri Kharka (3000m) 4 hrs, overnight at lodge

Pass By: Mount Manaslu, Gorkha 44600 Nepal
It is a nice walking day through a forest, along the river. You can stop on the way for the lunch break. You can see beautiful snow-capped mountains as well.

Pass By: Surke, Chaurikharka 56000, Nepal
Surke, it is known as Karache which is not mentioned in the map here. The day walking through wildness along with the river sounds and panoramic views of the surrounding hills with some snow-capped peaks.

Day 5: Trek to Bhimtang (3700m) 4 hrs, overnight at lodge

Pass By: Mount Manaslu, Gorkha 44600 Nepal
It is a day to see the world eight highest Mount Manaslu (8156m). It is suggested to walk slowly because of gaining high altitude but do not a big worry. It is not as high as a snow land above 5000. The day offers very scenic views and landscape.

It is an opportunity that you see the world's eighth highest Mount Manaslu (8163m). Just before you reach to Bhimtang, there is a viewpoint or on the way as well see the Manaslu like a mirror just in front of you as well as surrounding mountains and you be like in a bowel.

Day 6: Explore Bhimtang – hike to Ponkar Lake (4100m), overnight at Bhimtang lodge

Pass By: Mount Manaslu, Gorkha 44600 Nepal
Wake up early morning and take your breakfast then hike to Ponkar Lake. It takes about 3 hours. Be prepared with enough drinking water and packed lunch. It is the spectacular day of the short Manaslu trek. Back to Bhimtang for the night.



Stop At: Ponkar Tal, Thoche 33500, Nepal
Ponkar Taal (Lake) is the final destination of the trip. Ponkar lake situated above 4100. It is one of the beautiful lakes in the high Himalaya of Nepal. It offers massive mountain views including Mount Manaslu with 360 degrees view.
Duration: 1 hour

Day 7: Trek to Tilche or Dharapani 7/8 hrs, overnight Lodge

Pass By: Mount Manaslu, Gorkha 44600 Nepal
Trek back same trail to Dharapani. If you are not fit enough to Dharapani, then you may stop at Tilche for the night and next day trek about an hour to Dharapani and drive to Kathmandu.

Day 8: Drive to Beshishahar 3 hrs and Kathmandu 5 hrs, overnight Hotel
