Stop At: Punta Tombo, Ruta Provincial Nro.1, Dos Pozos Argentina
On this excursion we will visit the largest reserve of Magellan Penguins in South America. The tour begins leaving the city and taking the national route No. 3, which after passing the city of Trelew, we can find a detour that will help us to join the provincial route No. 1 and then reach the nature reserve. It is a journey of 170 km to reach Punta Tombo from Puerto Madryn, admiring the immense Patagonian aridity along the way. Once at destination, an entrance fee must be paid, where we also find an interesting Interpretation Center, dedicated to the different stages of the Penguin life cycle and its natural environment. At this point the most exciting part of the route begins, being able to walk among penguins, along a 1,5-kilometer path that begins in the Patagonian steppe field until you reach the coast area where the penguins arrive from the sea to the continent to recondition its nests every year and fulfill its cycle of breeding and breeding of its pigeons. You can see the vastness of the colony, full of nests everywhere. It is a unique experience in the world that few are lucky to live. It is worth mentioning that the penguins cohabit quietly with small rodents, the cuisines, and receive the sporadic visit of guanacos and choiques. Once the tour of the reservation is finished, we begin the return to the city.
