Sintra's historic center is an open-air museum full of magnificent treasures. The village of Sintra, at the base of the Sintra Mountains, was for a long time a royal sanctuary. Amidst its vast vegetation are incredible castles, palaces, gardens and farms.

The Sintra National Palace, in the heart of the town, is distinguished by two stunning chimneys and fantastic Portuguese tiles.

Stop At: Estrada Cabo da Roca, Colares 2705-001 Portugal

Cabo da Roca is the westernmost point of Portugal and Europe. Visitable, not to the extreme but to an area at an altitude of 140 m, this is one of Portugal's best known capes and forms the western end of the Sintra Mountains, precipitating over the Atlantic Ocean.

One of the most famous places to visit in Cascais is Boca do Inferno, a unique formation in the rocks by the ocean. It is believed that this place was formerly a cave that with time and the force of the sea gave way and gave rise to the scenery as it is known today. Today Boca do Inferno is an open pit, with a kind of arch through which sea water enters.
