Small-Group Sailing Lesson in Barcelona

Experience the thrill of sailing on a 3-hour, small-group sailing lesson from Barcelona’s Port Olympic. With an expert instructor as your skipper, board a modern sailboat for a group lesson tailored to your ability, whether you're a beginner or more advanced. Then, against the backdrop of Barcelona’s skyline, learn the basics of steering, safety and ropework or, if you’re more experienced, polish any rusty skills, hone your points of sail and more. Numbers on each boat are limited to five participants on this small-group experience, ensuring personalized attention.

Make your own way to the Port Olympic in Barcelona and meet your professional skipper, who serves as your instructor, and the rest of your small group.

Then, depending on whether you’re a beginner, have some sailing experience or are more advanced — your skipper will assign you to a class. You’ll then enjoy your lesson with a maximum of five participants, all with a similar level of experience.

Put on your life jacket and step aboard your sleek, modern vessel — a 26-foot (8-meter) J80 sailboat. Then, listen as your skipper gives a short safety briefing and explains the main training procedures.

Next, set sail onto the open Mediterranean, cutting through the waves and enjoying the views of Barcelona, including the spires of La Sagrada Familia, from the water.

Spend the next three hours picking up new skills or honing your sailing techniques. If you’re a beginner, be introduced to the basics of steering, ropework and safety, and if you're experienced, learn how to refine your skills, correct weaknesses and build your mastery of boat handling, points of sail and trimming the sails.

Your skipper will allocate different tasks in rotation to you and your fellow sailors, so the experience is varied, challenging and team-based.

After cruising past the city and further along the coast, sail back to the marina. Your experience ends when you leave the boat and say goodbye to your skipper and sailing companions.
