The Inklings Oxford Writers Tour (CS Lewis & JRR Tolkien)

This tour focuses on the Inklings' Oxford but also introduces the city history + university life. See inspiring sights relating to CS Lewis & JRR Tolkien on a 2 hour+ tour of the sights where they worked & relaxed, including the pubs they enjoyed. Locations visited include Magdalene or Merton college plus where and when open, we also visit Exeter college.

You can either book individual tickets (minimum 2 adults) for the public tour on Sundays at 14.30 or you can book a private group, daily afternoons only at time to suit your schedule from 13.00 onwards. We could offer a morning tour but except for in summer time, the relevant college venues are closed mornings.

Stop At: Exeter College, Turl Street, Oxford OX1 3DP England

Where and when open to visit, we will take you inside Exeter college which is free entry, open 2pm to 5pm, and is where JRR Tolkien studied. JK Rowling is also an honorary fellow of this college.

Stop At: Magdalen College, High Street, Oxford OX1 4AU England

Where and when open, we include entry to this college which is usually open from lunch time onwards & costs £5/6 entry fee. It is where CS Lewis taught & it has a beautiful deer park with deer. If this college is not open, then instead we'll visit Merton college, where JRR Tolkien taught or Exeter college, where Tolkien studied.

We only visit Merton college, if & when Magdalen is closed, as Merton has more limited opening. If we visit Merton, then the £3 entry fee is included in your ticket. Merton is where JRR Tolkien taught.
