The itinerary takes place in Gargnano (BS), a quiet and picturesque town located on the Brescia side of Lake Garda and begins with a visit to the Church and the fourteenth-century cloister of St. Francis, to discover the origins of citrus cultivation in this area, which dates back to the advent of the Franciscan friars, according to tradition.
With a walk of a few minutes, you reach a small Limonaia, perhaps the most characteristic and certainly the one that most faithfully reflects this kind of structure. It is worth mentioning that the "Limonaie" are found exclusively on Lake Garda and in particular on the western coast.
At the end of the tour, it will be possible to taste some typical products made with citrus fruits grown inside the Limonaia and, first of all, the delicious liqueur based on lemon peel called "Limoncello".
