Meet our driver at your hotel in Jaipur and be driven to the City Palace. On arrival, you will have the privilege of entering the City Palace via the Tripolia Gate. This Gate is usually restricted for use by the members of the Royal Family of Jaipur. We will have a private tour of the Chandra Mahal with the service of a museum curator.
Situated inside the large City Palace, the Chandra Mahal was built by Maharaja Jai Singh II. The magnificent residence within the palace complex is a seven storied citadel that is home to verdant gardens, marvelous paintings and ornately decorated ceilings. The ground and the first floor of the palace is the home of the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II museum. This museum consists of many galleries. The Mubarak Mahal, a Textile Gallery, has a majestic collection of royal costumes. In Baggi Khana, chariots and coaches are displayed. Sarvato Bhadra, Hall of Private audience, has two magnificent Silver urns and four showcases displaying spears, shields and guns. Pritam Niwas Chowk is an interior courtyard of the Palace. It has four gates representing the four seasons with murals depicting dancing peacocks and the blossomed lotus. The Silehkhana of the museum has one of the largest and finest collections of weapons and antique handguns in India.
You will also have an exclusive visit to rooms of the Private Residence. You will see a gilded room, where the walls were decorated with gold work over 200 years ago. The room is full of Royal memorabilia and it also has the famous Lalique Peacock table, which is an incredible piece specially made for the Royal Family of Jaipur by the world renowned Marc Lalique.
The Chandra Mahal Verandah walls are resplendent with frescoes done by an Italian Master artist and painted by the famous German artist A.H. Muller. The Verandah overlooks the sprawling Jai Niwas gardens.
Your visit will end with High Tea served in the Residence. After your visit, you will be brought back to your hotel in Jaipur.
