Benin, officially the Republic of Benin and formerly Dahomey, is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Togo to the west, Nigeria to the east, and Burkina Faso and Niger to the north. The capital of Benin is Porto-Novo, but the seat of government is in Cotonou, the country's largest city and economic capital. The official language of Benin is French. However, indigenous languages such as Fon and Yoruba are commonly spoken.It was Marxist-Leninist state from 1975 to 1990 after dissolution of U.S.S.R. ( Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). In 1991, it was replaced by the current multi-party Republic of Benin.

City tour of Cotonou. Visit the most important squares and monuments of the city of Cotonou.The red star, the martyrs square, the Lenin square, the dantopka market, the largest open-air market in West Africa, the handicraft promotion center, the Laguna that is at the origin of the name Cotonou. Return to the hotel.

Day 2: Cotonou-Ganvie-Cotonou

Stop At: Cotonou Cathedral, Ancien Pont Bridge, Cotonou Benin
Cotonou-Ganvie-Cotonou.Visit the Venice of Africa, lake Ganvié. Visit the maion of the mason of the Francophonie, the market that comes alive on the water, the channel of lovers and especially the monument that traces the history of the city of Ganvié. Also visit Sô Ava and other villages that are on the water. Lunch in Ganvié. Back to Cotonou.

Day 3: Cotonou-Ouidah-Cotonou

Stop At: Cotonou Cathedral, Ancien Pont Bridge, Cotonou Benin
Cotonou-Ouidah-Cotonou. On the way to the famous Ouidah, starting point for slaves to the New World. First visit the sacred forest then the temple of the pithons. Transformed into a museum, the old Portuguese fort plunged us into one of the most memorable moments in history. We then travel the famous Slave Route followed by these men, women and children chained to the Gate of No Return. On return visit the museum of the Zinsou Foundation and return to Cotonou. End of the tour
