Trekking Pico do Pão de Açúcar do Mamanguá

Itinerary

Saco do Mamanguá, in Reserva da Joatinga, is one of the most beautiful places in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Between fishing villages and preserved beaches, there are some options for trails. The most beautiful of them is certainly the Pão de Açúcar do Mamanguá. The tour starts at the pier in Paraty. Board the shared speedboat bound for Praia do Cruzeiro, in Saco do Mamanguá (40 min). To get to the top of the rock, you have to do the trail from the peak of the Sugarloaf Mountain. From the base, at Praia do Cruzeiro, until the peak of the stone is 466 meters of ascent.

We start the trail through the Atlantic Forest until Pico Pão de Açúcar (01h15). Arriving at Pico, time to rest and contemplate the landscape (40 min). The return is a descent (40 min) to Praia do Cruzeiro, where we can enjoy a beautiful sea bath and lunch in an optional caiçara restaurant - (cash only accepted). After stopping, return by shared speedboat to the Paraty pier.
