Trekking tour from Tusheti to Kazbegi with only two overnight stays in tents.

This is an eight day trekking tour from Omalo (Tusheti) to Kazbegi region. This is one of the most popular trekking tours in the whole country owing to the fact that the landscapes seen during the tour are truly unique and do not look like other mountainous landscapes from Europe. Tusheti is one of the most remote regions of Georgia which can only be reached during 6 months a year while during the other six months the road is closed owing to avalanches. The architecture there with its beautiful towers and local black stones creates special atmosphere. It is important to note that the first and the last days of the tour will be dedicated for transfers while the total number of trekking days equals to six. From these six days the guests will have to stay in tents only for two nights while the other overnight stays will be done in guesthouses. The trekking guide, tents, yoga mats, dinner, lunch and breakfast as well as luggage transportation with horses are all included in the price.

Itinerary

Day 1: Tbilisi - Omalo (Tusheti region).

Stop At: Omalo, Omalo, Kakheti Region
This day will be dedicated for a transfer from Tbilisi to the main village of Tusheti region Omalo. This will be a very long day due to the fact that guests first have to Travel from Tbilisi to Telavi which takes nearly 2 hours and then from Telavi to Omalo. Starting from the village Alvani the road conditions are extremely poor so owing to this fact the car will need nearly 5 hours to cover the last 100 kilometers.

Day 2: Omalo - Dartlo - Girevi

Stop At: Girevi, Girevi, Kakheti Region
On this day guests will leave from Omalo to Dartlo with a car and from there accompanied with a professional trekking guide they will hike to Girevi village. At night guests and the guide will stay at Jabo's guesthouse in Girevi.

Day 3: Girevi - Qvakhidi.

Stop At: Tusheti National Park, Tusheti National Park, Kakheti Region
On this day guests will trek from Girevi to Qvakhidi. The length of the trek is from 5 to 6 hours depending on fitness levels of the trekkers. This trek is of moderate difficulty. Lunch and dinner will be prepared by the guide and guests will have to sleep in tents.

Day 4: Qvakhidi - Atsuntsa pass - Khidotani

Stop At: Atsunta Pass, Georgia
This day is a little bit more difficult than the previous days owing to the fact that trekkers have to reach the highest poin of Atsunta pass and then descend to the village Khidotani. Overnight they will have to stay in a tent as well and the guide will prepare both lunch and the dinner.

Day 5: Khidotani - Khonischala - Shatili

Stop At: Shatili, Shatili, Mtskheta-Mtianeti Region
On the fifth day of the tour (fourth day of the trek) guests will reach village Khonischala. If they have enough energy they will have the opportunity to hike to Mutso fortress if not the driver will take them from the village Mutso to Shatili where they will be able to stay at the guesthouse, have a shower, warm dinner and sleep with comfort in a local doctor's guesthouse.

Day 6: Shatili - Juta - Kazbegi

Stop At: Mkinvartsveri, Georgia
On the sixth day of the tour guests first will be taken with a car to village Roshka from Shatili and from there they will trek via Chaukhi pass to village Juta. The trek will take nearly six hours. In this case the luggage will not be transported with horses but with a car from Shatili to Kazbegi. On finishing the trek in Juta a car will take them to Kazbegi town where they will stay in a very comfortable Green Sheep hotel Kazbegi.

Day 7: Kazbegi - Altihut - Kazbegi

Stop At: Altihut 3014, Stepantsminda 4700, Georgia
This is the last trekking day of the tour. On this day guests first will be taken to Gergeti Trinity Church with a car and from there they will hike for three hours to reach Altihut and the glacier. After reaching the glacier they will have the opportunity to sit at Altihut, enjoy the view and drink hot tea (be aware the prices up there are very expensive). They will need two hours to come back to the church and after seeing the church they will be taken back to the hotel Green Sheep where the will have dinner.

Day 8: Kazbegi - Tbilisi

Stop At: Tbilisi, Tbilisi
The last day of the tour will be dedicated for a transfer from Kazbegi to Tbilisi. Guests will have the opportunity to stop on the road and see some places of interest.
