Portland's chocolate scene is overwhelming; let us navigate you through its origins, passionate makers, and diversity with this walking tour that delves into what some call "decadence" but we call "delight."

And we couldn't cover chocolate without the roasted seed of our other favorite tropical berry: coffee! Portland is known as the heart of the craft coffee roasting world, with so many small roasters, coffee lovers that we are, we struggle to taste them all.

Our tour hits both the well-known highlights and some of the secrets of the chocolate scene, with a few surprises we don't want to give away.

The tour in total is about 2.0 miles (3.5km), mostly flat walking, with tastings of chocolate and coffee -- just the right amount so you'll have the opportunity to truly savor every sip and bite! We keep groups very small, so you'll have an intimate experience with your enthusiastic guides.

(Contact us for larger groups or private experiences; we are happy to accommodate!)

Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product

Stop At: Moonstruck Chocolate Shop, 608 SW Alder St, Portland, OR 97205, USA

We’ll leave Director Park and walk several blocks to Moonstruck Chocolate. One of the oldest craft chocolate makers in the city, famous for their truffles -- we will taste several truffles that span the history of the city's chocolate evolution.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Courier Coffee, 923 SW Oak St, Portland, OR 97205, USA

We'll walk to Courier Coffee (or another favorite coffee shop depending on opening hours), trying one of the locally-roasted micro lot coffees as a cappuccino or espresso, depending on your desires. We'll talk about why Portland became a coffee hotspot and what our small businesses are doing to further this movement -- past what they call the "third wave" to something even more exciting.

Duration: 20 minutes

Stop At: Azar Indulgences, 319 SW Pine St In The Embassy Suites, Portland, OR 97204-2725

We'll walk down through the funky Portland West End and stop at Azar Indulgences, where owner Christine Azar has designed her ideal combination of both handcrafted Belgian-style chocolates from her family's company in Lebanon, and wine carefully selected from both local and international winemakers. Azar's one-of-a-kind chocolates are made in a family tradition going back over a century; we'll taste a selection of our favorite of these chocolates (although to be honest it's so hard to pick!) and wine, as well.
