Walking Tour of Fort Kochi to Jewish Town

The tour aims at exploring Kochi as a local. The public transport like a tuk tuk and public service bus is used which will give you an insight into the life of the people. Also the tour goes to regions like that of Saraswath Brahmins and Marvaris, and Gujarath Brahmins who represent different cultures and life styles.and who live peacefully showing the greatest tolerance in mingling with everyone around. The tour when rides the narrow thorough fares and by-lanes in the tuk tuk will give you a most satisfying experience by all five senses.

On meeting the travelers at Vasco da Gama square and formal introduction the tour start walking to the chinese Fishing nets area.

1. Watch the Chinese Fishing Nets at operation, take photos, interact with fishermen. 15 minutes.

From Chinese Fishing Nets walk ( 5 minutes ) to St. Frasncis Church.to pay homage to Vasco da Gama whos body was buried first in this church.

2. Church of St. Francis Fort Kochi. (15 minutes).

From the Church of St. Francis the tour proceeds to Santa Cruz Basilica which is one of the heritage edifices of Kochi.( 15 minutes walk )

3. Santa Cruz Cruz ( 15 minutes )

From Santa Cruz Basilica the tour ride in tuk tuk (15 minutes ) to the Cheralai Leave the tuk tuk to explore the region where Saraswath Brahmins live in the small town ship. Here is their colony, their famous ancient temple, their market of daily requirements.

4. Cheralai Saraswath Brahmins Township ( 30 minutes.)

From here board again tuk tuk to travel to Jewish Town.( 15 minutes )

5.Walk around Jewish Town to visit the ancient Jew Town and the famous synagogue. ( Closed on Saturdays ) ( 30 minutes.)

From Jewish Town walk to the famous Dutch Palace Museum. (10 minutes ). This building was the seat of administration of the Kochi Royalty.

6. Dutch Palace Museum ( 30 minutes)

After Visiting Dutch Palace Museum the tour returns to Fort Kochi.. This stretch of travel is fun. Because we board a public public bus from the Dutch palace to Paravana Jn. and board another public bus Fort Kochi. This two destination buses will take together 30 minutes.

The tour will end at The Vascoda Gama Square.
