Itinerary
Early in the morning, we will head to the famous wine valley of Plovdiv where you will stop by the unique Red Church – a newly restored late Roman, early Christian basilica which represents a rare example of solid brick construction from the 5th – 6th century AD. Under the influence of this medieval experience, we will arrive at a well-known winery cellar where you will taste an exclusive selection of local wines - one of the best productions from the valley of the Thracian kings. The wine could be accompanied by a special lunch (to be paid at the spot) prepared from the sunkissed ingredients of long-kept Bulgarian culinary traditions.
After this, we continue to the symbolic town of Batak where your professional guide will introduce you to one of the most dramatic moments in Bulgarian history. We will stop by the ossuary church which becomes a symbol of heroism for Bulgarian people during the Uprisings against the Ottomans in 1876.
Following such a historical journey in time, we will head to a nearby village where you will enjoy your afternoon tea/coffee break on the shore of the beautiful lake Tsigov Chark. Return to Plovdiv.
