Visiting Zakopane is a perfect opportunity to learn about
the wooden architecture of Podhale highlanders, and to see
the beautiful villas in Zakopane style, which was inspired by
the folklore of this region.

Your day will begin with the pickup from selected hotels in Krakow or main departure point. You will travel by comfortable vehicle with your tour guide, enjoying the scenic landscape on your journey south through traditional mountain villages. After approximately 2 hours journey you will arrival in small charming village Chochołów. It is famous for traditional, old Polish wooden houses (góralskie chaty) built by the Polish highlanders, that look almost identical. Settlers traditionally wash the wooden walls of buildings with soapy water. They do it twice a year before Christmas and Easter. Thanks to this, buildings that are many years old look like new. The history of Chochołów stems from the 16th century. You will admire old Polish wooden houses and visit sculpture studio of Jan Zięder, a well-known in this area, but also his idea, a private museum of folk art.

On the way to Zakopane you will visit to a place where one of the most unique cheese in the world is produced - the wooden house called "Bacówka".
Highlanders - local settlers, produce cheese called "Oscypek". It is smoked cheese made from sheep's milk. The wooden houses where this cheese is produced are called "Bacówkach". You will be able to try different types of this cheese with different levels of smoking, as well as hear about how it is produced.

You will visit the oldest wooden church of Our Lady of Częstochowa and the cemetery in Zakopane. The tombstones in the cemetery are richly decorated works of art made of wood, stone and metal.

It is impossible to visit Zakopane and not go to Gubałówka (1123 metres above sea level) – the best known peak of the winter capital of Poland, as well as one of the best viewing points, from where you can see the Tatra Mountains, Zakopane and the entire Podhale region.
You will ride the funicular to the top of Mount Gubałówka and spend 1 hour here to admire commanding views of the Tatras and Zakopane.

You will visit the most popular street Krupówki, which is a peculiar market of the city and its central point. Krupówki street is crowded with tourists who visit shops and go to restaurants located along the street. On this street you can find many traditional highlander items to buy, such as clothes and souvenirs, but also to eat.
