To the truly devoted beer geeks, tart, barrel-aged beers are the next IPAs and Cascade Brewing is a pioneer of the Northwest style sour beer movement. Its barrel room in SE Portland holds more than 500 French oak and Kentucky Bourbon barrels filled with wheats, blondes, quads, reds, browns and porters that are aged and blended into magical elixiers. These beers crackle with acidic notes and woody tannins that blur stylistic lines. The Cascade Brewery Barrel House features more than 18 taps, with at least a dozen sour beers at any given time, plus a number of bottled products available in house and online. Pucker up!
