San Diego Parade of Lights
View Original Description
The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is a time-honored holiday tradition brought to San Diego by the boating community. The annual Parade on San Diego Bay takes place on two Tues evenings in December, with more than 80 boats lavishly decorated according to a new theme each year. It brings more than 100,000 San Diego residents and visitors to the shores of San Diego Bay each year. There is no cost to view the parade.
The procession will start at 5:30 p.m. and will follow the predetermined parade route.
Boats are judged on originality and the creative use of decorations depicting the parade theme. Boats are judged in four categories with scores ranging from 1 to 5 for each category. The Parade proceeds from Shelter Island past Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and Ferry Landing in Coronado.
On Coronado the best places to see the parade are the Ferry Landing, Centennial Park, Harbor View Park and Bayview Park.
