Painted Canyons (Ladder Canyons) is a beautiful slot canyon hike located in Mecca Hills in the northeast corner of the Coachella Valley. The Painted Cove Trail is 0.25 mile / 0.4 km roundtrip. The Painted Cove is an amazing color palette of vibrant rocks. A portion of this trail features a level boardwalk to cross over sensitive soils.
The Painted Gorge near Ocotillo and Plaster City offers brightly colored mud hills of an ancient marine layer and volcanic flows. The leading source of color is iron. In its oxidized state, as in exposed to the air, it rusts.
The BLM manages Painted Gorge and has designated it a limited use area. Be aware though, that some sections of the gorge are privately owned.
The Painted Hills Overlook Trail is 0.5 mile / 0.8 km roundtrip. This fairly level trail follows an old road and offers further distinctive views of the Painted Hills.
There is no water available at Painted Hills so bring plenty of water for your visit to the park. Picnic tables are available.
Palm Canyon is located within Kofa National Wildlife Refuge and about 7 miles (half hour) south of Quartsite on Hwy 95. Around one hundred trees are found in a narrow, southeast-facing, side ravine further up the canyon; they are quite well-hidden and only visible when close by.
It's 0.5 miles to the viewpoint; about 1 mile to the head of the canyon.
Palm Canyon is filled with Washingtonia filifera (California Fan Palm) which is a breathtaking contrasts to the stark rocky gorges and barren desert lands beyond. A moderately graded, foot path winds down into the canyon for picnicking near the stream, meditating, exploring, hiking or horseback riding.

Palm Springs Art Museum Trail is a 2 mile (900 elevation gain) hike that starts behind the Palm Springs Art Museum. This in-and-out trail takes about 2 hours. It's a steep ascent to some picnic tables with a view of the whole valley.
This is also the start of the Skyline Trail (Cactus to Clouds).
Palm Trail Loop is a 2.6 mile trail located in the Kahuku Unit of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park off Kahuku Road.
There is a restroom at Lower Palm Trailhead.
Palm View Peak Trail is a 9 mile out and back (2,800 elevation gain) trail located near Mountain Center, California. Not sure why the name since there are no views from the "peak" and no sign of palms, but great views along the hike.
